Sierra Nevada - 13th Release Harvest Wet Hop Ale

6.7% ABV / 60-65 IBUs

Upon pouring into the glass, a golden reddish color with a slight haze is revealed. The head forms to a good ¾ inch but dissipates quickly, leaving a small crown of bubbles. Hints of red berries and unobtrusive spices in the nose add complexity to the predominate aroma of pine that fresh Centennial and Cascade hops impart, while never entirely overpowering the sweeter tones contributed by the ample Two-Row Pale and Caramel malt. Higher than average carbonation shimmers on the tongue, further expanding the hop profile to include light floral and citrus notes. The Caramel malt shows in the initial wash before the powerful but tasty hop flavors seize the palate. Leaves the mouth slightly dry and the aftertaste lingers for a few minutes. Overall, it highlights the fresh hops well without sacrificing balance.

Thirsty Zymurgist Score: 41/50
